BCH Club in Lake Norman Charter High School

BCH Club in Lake Norman Charter High School

Starting of First Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) Club in Lake Norman Charter High School, Huntersville, NC, in September 2024: For the past three years, many High School students have reached out to start BCH Clubs in their respective schools, but due to my BCH patient commitments and other programs spread out, I couldn’t approve with my time constraints. This year, I agreed to Sanjana Gopalakrishnan's persuasion, and I am very proud of the team: Sanjana, Akshara Gurudu, Viva Mittal, and Sahasra Poolugu for their enthusiasm and dedication. We are grateful to Ms. Michelle Wiehl (Club advisor) and Mr. Mark Maleck (Principal) for their approval and permission, supporting the cause..

On behalf of BCH, we designed the club activities to make a meaningful difference. They are not just tasks but opportunities to contribute to a cause that can change lives with no cost to be incurred by the school.

With gratitude,

Dr Lopamudra Das Roy

Women ALLYs Courageous Conversations

Women Ally's Courageous Conversations - ovarian, uterine, cervical and breast cancer

Women ALLYs Courageous Conversations - Ovarian, Uterine, Cervical and Breast Cancer, January 18, 2024: My immense honor to be invited by Olivia Wood (Gutknecht) and the Women Ally organizing team, as a speaker for the courageous discussions, and cannot thank Olivia enough for supporting such an important cause. It was wonderful to conduct the hybrid model webinar with ~115 participants from the Ally family. We had great interactions during the Q&A section after the session. Post-session, Olivia shared with our esteemed audience the Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) educational materials including the link to the life-saving Early detection screening cards that include Breast, Cervical, Uterine, and Ovarian Cancers as a compiled PDF.

Olivia also kindly accepted the pink bags I provided containing BCH educational resources to share with her colleagues, helping us to spread the message of Early detection and prevention of Cancer.: A brochure with BCH’s 100% Free services program information, along with the QR codes to download the early detection cards, and contact information, so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later; a wristband; and a keyring; with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with two bookmarks and a thank you note from BCH, with the message of togetherness.

We also discussed our BCH Patient care package, which includes the post-breast cancer surgery (mastectomy or lumpectomy) comfort pillows with a pocket that allows using a cold or hot pack as part of the healing, chemo port seat belt pillows and chemo hats, a gesture of our love and care.

100% of BCH services are free of cost, and 100% of donations are driven towards our mission (donor’s choice).

With gratitude,

Dr Lopamudra Das Roy , on behalf of BCH family

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Martin Luther King (MLK) Day of Service with Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) on January 15, 2024: Thank you, Ms. Whitney Williams, for inviting BCH to partner, sincerely appreciate. It was wonderful to mentor Brian Dedora who has very efficiently executed the BCH 4-hour service project and excelled with his sincerity and dedication by making handcrafted cards and writing motivational messages for BCH Children Cancer patients that will go in the BCH Patient Care Package. Brian poured his creative thoughts and wrote very inspiring messages during the card-making process.

Brian also helped in the packing of the BCH educational resources and souvenirs which will be given by BCH to the community during the awareness outreaches. Brian assembled pink bags, with the following materials provided by BCH: A brochure with BCH’s 100% Free services program information, along with the QR codes to download the early detection cards, and contact information, so that any suspicious case can reach out to me later; a wristband; and a keyring; with combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers along with two bookmarks and a thank you note from BCH, with the message of togetherness.
