Breast Cancer Awareness & Screening Camp, Dalu Tea-Garden, Southern Assam

We had a constant flow of women coming forward with issues after the session, that they never spoke about before and were ignorant. From the survey, 100% women were not aware of breast self exam or early detection. In-fact recently, Dalu tea garden lost few women to Breast Cancer and after Breast screening performed on 7th August on the suspicious cases, few women were detected with lump & discharges.
I wanted to thank Ms Shatakshi Bhattacharjee for connecting me to Mr Kishore Acharjee , who helped organize the outreach. Mr. Kishore is working so hard at Dalu tea garden to provide proper health care and will now also guide these women detected with lump towards the hospital & also each woman can reach out to me through my whatsapp number if any help needed.

It was a very fruitful interactive event with women coming forward with questions & willing to spread the word in their own network as well as requesting for more sessions next year! The on-spot survey showed that the screening for Breast Cancer was almost ~99% not done till issues evolved. Therefore, the concept of Breast Self Exam was immensely accepted. Definitely, I requested for Mammogram (mentioned about dense breast issues with Mammogram so that each woman is aware) & ultrasound after certain age as screening method. Cannot be more thankful to Mrs Parul Dhar & respected members of Sarada Sangha for organizing the session & for their immense support in taking the message forward.
