A woman of numerous and staggering achievements, Dr. Sumita Prabhakar is the founder and President of Can Protect Foundation, She has been continuously working since last 4 years for the prevention of Cancer in India and improving women's healthcare by organizing FREE breast and cervical screening camps and awareness drive and has screened over 12,000 women for breast cancer and benefited over 5,00,000 women and 1,25,000 families so far.
Dr. Sumita Prabhakar is one of India's most prominent Gynecologists, working for women's healthcare since last 17 years. She left her lucrative job in abroad to devote her time and energy for the upliftment of women's health in India. She completed her MBBS and MD in Obstetrics & Gynecology from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University, India. She has done her membership from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (MRCOG), London.
Her achievement includes starting first FOGSI recognized colposcopy training center for detection of cervical cancer for training of doctors, and starting operative endoscopy in uttrakhand in gynecology and is amongst the few doctors to achieve this feat in India.
Dr. Sumita Prabhakar is also a renowned infertility and IVF specialist and Director of CARE. Her expertise lies in effectively dealing with complicated cases of repeated IVF failures, donor, and surrogacy. She is regularly invited to various national and International conferences to present her work.

Her Story
Almost 4 years ago, Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, noticed the large numbers of incidence and high death rate of breast and cervical cancer of women in India. She realized that this happened largely due to the low levels of awareness among women about preventive health care, Breast Self Exam, no knowledge of Pap smear and HPV. She made it her life’s mission to make things right and started working on a ground level for the prevention of Breast and Cervical Cancer.
In a mission to make aware each and every woman about the methods to control breast cancer and prevent cervical cancer She has started her nonprofit society 'Can Protect Foundation' for Preventive Healthcare, Research and, Awareness and through it pioneered new models in minimizing the deaths from Cancers in India.
Impact of Her Mission
'Can Protect Foundation' under the president ship of Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, has been regularly working in the field of women healthcare, education, and awareness. Every month Can Protect organizes at least 6 Free Camps in various cities and 3 days Mega Camp every year where many women get screened, being taught about Self Breast Exam, the importance of Pap Smear. Nurturing guidance is also given to the women coming to camps.
Her Aspiration, Efforts, and Goals
Dr. Sumita Prabhakar has taken a pledge to screen each and every woman under the age-group of 30 to 50 in India and she is continuously moving to her mission this with her amazing initiative called ‘Can Protect Foundation’. She goes wherever the women are and organizes the free camp right there. She has managed to organize at camps places like slums and renowned hotels, schools to remote Himalayan villages in India.
Can Protect Foundation
“Can Protect Foundation”, a nonprofit organization registered in India, organizes awareness campaign and free screening camps for the early detection of breast cancer in India.
Can Protect Foundation also aims at setting up a national plan dedicated to preventive practices for detecting breast and cervical cancer at an early stage to achieve very high cure rates while considerably reducing the aggressiveness of the treatments applied.
Started by the initiative of Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, the “Can Protect Foundation" ceaselessly working since 2014 to promote the prevention of breast and cervical cancer by organizing at least 6 free screening camps. Furthermore, the Can Protect Foundation made a commitment to aware each and every teenage girl to take care of her health in coming future, for this foundation's qualified team members organize awareness session by going to various schools.
The organization has so far screened more than 12000 women in India. Many famous doctors are associated with the Can Protect Foundation, the organization's patron Dr. Mahesh Kuriyal is a world-renowned neurosurgeon who actively participate in all the activities run by Can Protect Foundation. Currently foundation is backed with more than 500 volunteers and supporters.
