BCH Adopted Villages: 20,658 Screened

BCH Adopted 20 Villages in India - 20,658 Screened

Report on Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) adopted 20 villages in India for door-to-door Cancer Screening, Diagnosis, Treatment Management, and Palliative Care- 20,658 Screened. More villages in progress. Pictures published with consent.

We screened a) 20,000 individuals from 17 villages in Cachar District, Assam from Feb 2020 - Nov 2023; b) 549 villagers in Huda & Kumari villages, Nadia Dist, West Bengal from Nov 2022 - Nov 2023, and c) 109 villagers in Buratal village, Ganjam Dist, Odisha from Dec 2023 - Jan 2024. We take the suspicious cases in a) Cachar Dist, Assam to Cachar Cancer Hospital (CCH), or Silchar Medical College (SMC), b) in Nadia Dist to Krishnanagar District Hospital, c) in Ganjam Dist, will take to Primary Health Centres in Patrapur Block, Jarada Ganjam, and if needed to M.K.C.G Medical College in Brahmapur.

The hospitals provide treatment at subsidized rates under the government-aided schemes but the remaining treatment expenses, BCH covers. The villagers are daily wage earners living a hand-to-mouth existence without any savings. On many occasions, there is no person in the family to accompany the patient to the hospital, eventually delaying or skipping treatment. BCH takes care end to end, starting from providing transport, purchasing medicines, diagnostic tests, that are not covered under the government schemes. BCH team assists the patients by taking them to the hospital, helping with income certificate, AAA card, hospital registration, patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis process, buying necessary medicines, providing food during the process and dropping them home with follow-ups & counseling. BCH provides treatment aid to the poor in utmost need who have no one to take care of them.

A huge shout-out to our Current teams: a) Cachar Dist (17 villages adopted): Sanalembi Devi, Sapna Pashi, Ranjitha Singha, Sangita Bagdi, and Sarita Singha. b) Nadia Dist (2 villages adopted): Rimpa Biswas, Sima Basak, Ratna Basak, Sabarna Saraswati; c) Ganjam Dist (1 village adopted): Harapriya Paik, Laxmubai Paika, Akhaya Mohanty. Thanks to Jagdish Paik, and Ajit Kumar Paik for the help. More villages are in progress for adoption.

100% of BCH services are free of cost, and 100% of donations are driven towards our mission (donor’s choice).

Buratal Outreaches - Adivasi Vidyapitha

June 26, 2023: BCH Buratal Village Adoption Team created. During the process of BCH adoption of Buratal village, I was so touched by the beautiful gestures of the Faculty and students of the Adivasi Vidyapitha in BURATAL VILLAGE, PATRAPUR block of GANJAM district of ODISHA. I am immensely thankful to Mr Niranjan Raulo- Head Master, and the respected teachers: Mr Sankar Lal Pattnayek, Mr Ashok Pattanik, Mr Jagdish Paik, Mr Joyanta Mohnaty, Mr. Ajit Kumar Paik, Mrs. Ranjita Padhy, School official Mr. Santosh Sethi and the team for organizing the community outreach in the Buratal village, that helped me to meet the residents and also make them understand the purpose of our mission. It was great interacting with everyone and also mentoring our new Buratal village adoption team: Ms Harapriya Paik and Mrs Laxmubai Paika. I feel blessed to be able to serve the Odisha region, and this wouldn’t have happened without the help of Mr. Akhaya Mohanty, that I could penetrate the interiors of Odisha and adopt an underprivileged village. I thank our BCH Odisha team, the teachers of Adivasi Vidyapitha and the residents of Buratal and Tumba village, for your support and affection. Thank you, Mr. Pradyumna Mohanty, Minati Mohanty and everyone.

After a series of groundwork, Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) adopted a very interior Buratal village, predominantly Adivasi residents, located in Patrapur block of Ganjam district of Odisha. After adoption, it is our responsibility, so we make sure that we collaborate with the local village hospitals and the city hospitals, so that we have the resources for our patients to get treated as we accompany our patients to the hospitals, taking care end to end. It was my privilege to meet Dr Roja Ramani (thank you Dr Palanki Satya Dattatreya for connecting us), from M.K.C.G Medical College in Brahmapur, and we discussed BCH collaboration with M.K.C.G hospital ). We also collaborated with the Patrapur Block Primary Health Centre and also Primary health center at Jarada Ganjam, so that we bring our suspicious cases to the immediate local hospitals.

BCH team takes care end to end, from providing transport, to purchasing medicines, and diagnostic tests, which are not covered under the government schemes. BCH team assists the patients by taking them to the hospital, helping with generating income certificates, Government health cards, hospital registration, patient communication with the doctor, accompanying them in the full diagnosis process, buying necessary medicines, and dropping them home with follow-ups & counseling. BCH provides treatment aid to the poor and underprivileged. We take accountability for each case, helping them from beginning to end.
