Lions Club of Silchar Lioness, Assam University, 12th April 2024: My immense gratitude to Mrs. Uma Kar, for the initiative and to Mrs. Kar, Prof. Madhumita Dhar Sarkar, Ms. Madhuchanda Chakraborty, Ms. Mun Choudhury, Ms. Bidisha Sukai, and the Lions Club Team, for supporting the cause, inviting me to conduct the seminar and organizing the session. Thanks to the students attending the session and for the wonderful interaction during the Q&A.
On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), post-session, we distributed BCH Brochures with the QR code of Breast Self Exam cards in 24 languages & also QR code of Early detection Cards for other prevalent cancers, to download & share in the network with my contact information, so that any suspected case can reach out to me if need any further guidance, support & counseling & we can navigate in the right direction, help detect & treat early as early detection is the key to saving lives. I explained the Breast self-exam through the prototype breast model, and made the students and faculty examine the model themselves so that it becomes easier to identify lumps while they examine their breasts at home. We also gave each participant a Breast Self Exam Card for Her and Him in the local language made by BCH, as we explained to each woman, how to understand the look and feel of the breast to detect any abnormality
In addition, also handed out multi-colored awareness keyrings with blue representing Breast Cancer in Men, Pink for Women, and Purple for all cancers and all genders, as a reminder to perform BSE every month..
