BCH YOUTH AMBASSADOR -2020
CHARLOTTE, USA
Throughout my life, I have been touched by cancer. I lost my grandmother to cancer and have had a host of extended family and friends who have battled or are battling this disease. After witnessing the emotional and financial burden that families face I began searching ways to get involved. After completing the youth research project with my group on Osteosarcoma and Bone Cancer, I was motivated and passionate to continue working with Lopa aunty and BCH in any possible way. As ambassadors of this amazing organization, Pooja Patil and I decided to start a Zumba fundraiser to raise proceeds for a local family and Breast Cancer Hub. Astonished at the love and support we have received, I am driven to continue to do what I can to contribute my efforts to this organization and spread awareness on this important topic through presentations and in my surrounding community.
Session conducted: August 15, 2020
Those that attended my presentation were from India, Chicago, New York, and our local community. These individuals have been supportive of this whole journey by attending our Zumba Fundraiser and my ambassador presentation, and they greatly inspire me to continue to do everything in my efforts to contribute to Breast Cancer Hub's main mission. Within our group we not only have breast cancer survivors, but individuals currently battling cancer as well. All of our family and friends, along with people from various regions, have shown me the true meaning of generosity, compassion, and support, in which they have displayed towards the community and myself.
