Ekam Foundation is an India based nonprofit organization started by Dr. Sailakshmi Balijellapalli in 2009 with a vision to work for child and women’s well-being by reducing infant and maternal mortality rate. It was first started in Tamil Nadu and the work of the foundation has now spread across eight states in India and in over 12,000 villages and served 1.08 million children and their families.
EKAM USA 501 © was founded in 2016 to extend EKAM Foundation’s reach and services. EKAM USA offers Ekam Youth Ambassador (EYA) program where the students can enroll themselves as volunteers and work on a variety of projects. EKAM USA is an organization eligible to nominate volunteers for Presendential Award. Here is the link to the organization - ekamusa.org.
The mission of Charlotte chapter of Ekam USA is not only to raise awareness and funds for its founding organization but also to provide numerous opportunities for service as a family. The organizations it serves are Breast Cancer Hub, Ronald McDonald House, Mel’s diner, Trees Charlotte, Bright Blessings and Promising Pages.
Mission Statement: Collaboration with BCH - Lopa’s passion, her selfless mission to work together to save lives and her dedication to the cause inspires us to do our bit to give back to the community. Our kids are learning from a great role model that we always have to think bigger than just ourselves.
