Zeta Tau Alpha, Breast cancer education, uncc

March 30, 2025, Zeta Tau Alpha Breast Cancer Education, UNC Charlotte: Thank you, Sophia Bazelow, Breast Cancer Education Chairman, for inviting me to speak about Breast Cancer Early Detection, Prevention, and Screening. Thanks to the leadership team, Amanda Marinace (Head of our Philanthropy),and committee members Farrah Mottola, Claudia Quiroz, Emma Janelle, Arianna Kefalas, Hailey Droski, Sophia Bazelow, Avery Bray, and Hadley U’Ren for hosting, and thanks to everyone who attended.
On behalf of Breast Cancer Hub (BCH), it was very fulfilling to give the BCH Patient Care package to students who took it for their loved ones. Our bundle contains a heart-shaped pillow with a pocket to insert a cold or hot pack, providing comfort and healing used after Breast Cancer Surgery (also applicable for other cancers), specialized Chemo port Seat Belt pillows to wear in the Car while seated, and Soft Hats for an irritated scalp from chemo, extremely helpful for patients, along with beautiful artistic handmade cards. We also provided each student with a pink bag containing the BCH brochure, which featured QR codes for downloading Breast Self Exam cards for both women and men in 24 languages, as well as one-stop Life-saving Early Detection Cards for other prevalent cancers. Additionally, the brochure included my contact information, allowing any suspicious cases to reach out to me later. The wristband with a combination color of pink representing breast cancer in women, blue representing breast cancer in men, and purple inclusive of all genders and all cancers, along with bookmarks with the message of togetherness, were also included in the bag.
With gratitude,
Dr Lopamudra Das Roy, on behalf of BCH Family
