My name is Jyothi and I came to Charlotte from Bangalore, which is called the Silicon Valley of South India, in 2000 with my husband. Since then, we have settled here and loved this city which gave us our two precious kids; my son Gaurav & daughter Rachana. I began my professional career in Charlotte as an Elementary school teacher and found it very rewarding to teach children. However, I had set a goal for myself to complete Masters by 2015 and hence pursued my studies to earn a Graduate degree in Marketing & Social Media. This opened many different doors of career opportunities for me and now I can call myself a happy and successful digital marketer who loves the everyday challenges that this profession brings.
Apart from being a happy mom, wife, and career woman, I try to spend some time in reading, dancing travelling and last but not the least giving back to the community which has been so very kind to me.
I believe that we women are a pillar of strength to ourselves, our family and to society. So, it is very important that we take good care of ourselves, be it in terms of emotional, psychological, or physical health. Only the, we will be able to support others in need of our help. This became even more clear to me when I lost my dad to liver cancer a few years back. That phase of emotional trauma made me realize that we should always take adequate measures to keep our body and mind healthy, get regular check ups done and incorporate all possible preventive measures to predisposed genetic conditions that may run in the family.
As a first step towards this goal, I decided to become an advocate against cancer and Breast cancer being one of the major forms of cancers in women, was my first choice. Now, through BCH, I have signed up to spread the word about this with my family, friends, community and any/all relevant network .
