Dr Sumit Das, born in a modest family in Assam, did his schooling from Holy Cross School, Silchar.

He has passed MBBS from Silchar Medical College and has post graduate degree (MD) in Paediatrics from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh.

Dr Das has started his services as Register in Silchar Medical College ie. his parent institute and promoted over time to Associate Professor in the department of Pediatrics in Silchar Medical College.

Dr Sumit Das is wholeheartedly associated with Indian Academy of Pediatrics and has served as Secretary and President in the local branch of IAP several times.

As an academician he is associated with UG and PG teaching, thesis guide for Post Graduates, internal and external examiner for both UG and PG exams in various universities. He has several publications to his credit in national journals, presented papers and chaired sessions in numerous conferences and CMEs.

MOTTO

Special interest in care of the newborns and also trained in Neonatal resuscitation Program and training others in the art to reduce Neonatal mortality and morbidity.

Mission Statement:
Childhood malignancies is not so uncommon, especially Leukemias and Lymphomas, and the response to treatment is also quite encouraging if treated early and methodically. But sad enough the treatment drop outs and interruptions is quiet high in the region due to lack of resources and other multifactorial reasons. BCH has shown a new light in this regard and in collaboration with them more and more of these unfortunate children can be treated properly with see the light of tomorrow.
