I am Geeta Sarin, wife of Mr. Deepak Sarin and blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. I stay in Shillong (Meghalaya) a beautiful city called the "Scotland of the East".
I have done my graduation from GCW, Amritsar topping the University. I did Geography Honours and was awarded the Gold Medal. Thereafter, I completed my Masters degree from Punjab University Chandigarh and topped the University. I did my M.Phil and Doctorate from North Eastern Hill University with all "O" levels on the topic "Status and Empowerment of Tribal versus Non-Tribal Women" in the slum areas of Shillong. I have been associated with various organisations. I am a die hard Social worker and have served the Society by following the Motto of "Service Above Self". I am organizing Secretary of Punjabi Sabha. I am Advisor to the Aids Society. Advisor to "Shubham" an organisation working for skill development among poor girls and boys. Also, I am working for Empowerment of poor women.
I am District ISO of Inner Wheel Club the second largest International Women's Organisation working for the betterment of the Society. The District has 25 Clubs and 619 members. I have been awarded 4 International and 20 other awards for social works and converting 9 poor schools into Happy Schools by constructing clean Toilets, providing drinking water, class rooms and library. Also my recognition for my work for legal empowerment of women to stop crimes against them. 35 poor girls education was sponsored by me. So the "Asha Kiran" Award was received.
I have worked for various organisations and for the past 5 years I have worked for a London based NGO called "Roko Cancer" as Area Director. The main aim was to generate "Awareness for Cancer and Detection". "Cancer is curable if Detected Early" was the main message. 15 free camps were conducted in Rural areas every month and a mobile bus fitted with mammography unit went with a team of 11 dedicated specialists. The main thrust was on Oral Cancer, Cervix Cancer and Breast Cancer. Informative pamphlets were distributed to all the people to generate awareness to curb this deadly disease and help given to poor cancer patients to obtain free treatment.
Mission Statement:
I am now very happy to be associated with Cancer Hub foundation and will take up this noble work and spread the message not only in my City but all the 25 Clubs across North East India. If we can save one life also it would be worth the effort.
