Harini Mohan- BCH North Georgia Chapter Co-Director
SANJANA SURAPANENI
BCH NORTH GEORGIA CHAPTER
CO-DIRECTOR
As a rising junior at the Alliance Academy for Innovation, I have been privileged with a high school career curated towards the healthcare field. To maximize my experience, I have been a member of HOSA, Skills USA, Create2Donate, and Beta Club and will continue to be an active participant through my junior and senior years. Outside of my education, I have been a proponent for helping children in need by volunteering at Meals By Grace where I packaged and distributed food to economically impacted families. As an Indian-American person, I have also volunteered for global impact projects that focused on renovating underprivileged schools and libraries in rural Indian communities. My family has been active in supporting my passions, so my hobbies revolve around spending time with them. During my free time and especially while in quarantine for COVID-19, I have been learning how to cook traditional Indian meals with my mom while also baking classic American desserts with my brother. While my hobbies and volunteer work use my physical energy, I release my creative energy through painting and digital editing. For the future, I strive to be a pediatrician who advocates for bettering the mental and emotional health of children through creating and sponsoring outreach programs from my clinic.
Mission Statement: Through volunteering and visiting family in India, I have seen the educational struggles of underprivileged families, especially in areas with poor infrastructure. This experience motivated me to address the disparity faced by students without access to effective cancer research resources and the accompanied lack of mentorship. Through the implementation of a new BCH chapter, I aspire to increase the efficiency of future research and STEM recruitment by creating new outreach opportunities for students interested in cancer research.
