GRAFTON BREAST CANCER SENSITIZATION AND SCREENING CAMP, April 19, 2024

Breast Cancer Hub (BCH) in partnership with Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer Sensitization and Screening Camp in Grafton, Sierra Leone, Africa on 19th April 2024: Grafton is a coastal town close to the peninsular, in the Western Area Rural District of Sierra Leone. We conducted a social mobilization campaign two days before the event so that we can reach the residents and invite them to take advantage of this timely campaign in their community. We requested two survivors and a nurse to be involved and disseminate key messages about the upcoming event including time and location. On the day of the event, the participation was very encouraging and included women/men and High School Girls. We screened the school girls first so they could leave early. A total of Hundred and Twelve registered and Twenty-Four had some with Breast Abnormality including Three presenting in advanced stages.

BCH cannot be more thankful to the leadership of Mrs. Cremelda Parkinson Pratt and the great team of Thinking Pink for helping with the execution. The screening camp was executed with funds from Breast Cancer Hub and we also selected abnormal cases for their treatment with funds from BCH.

We feel blessed to be able to serve the people of  Sierra Leone.

With gratitude,

Dr Lopamudra Das Roy
